We were shortlisted along with two other artists for a commission by the French Ministry of Culture to create a photographic work about Braque for next year’s 50th anniversary of his death.

Our proposal was to explore Braque’s life as an artist and how he exists today in memory, in physical traces and as an artist represented in many of the world’s leading museums and was in three parts:

  • - to visit and photograph Braque’s eight ‘Atelier’ paintings as they are now
  • - to create a photographic portrait of Braque’s Atelier in Varengeville sur Mer
  • - to create a photo book based on the walks that Braque made
